I cannot believe I am almost at the end of my amazing year in the United States. I can only say that it has been the time of my life and I wish everyone would take the chance that I did. Today I have less than three weeks left. I get out of school on Wednesday and graduate next weekend. It’s absolutely insane, and I can’t believe it!
April 25th, 2012
Today some friends and I skipped school and went to Iowa City to see PRESIDENT OBAMA. He was going to a meeting for students at the University of Iowa, and although we didn’t have tickets, we still wanted to try getting just a glance of him. So this is what we got. His car. But it was a pretty sweet car and it was surrounded by plenty of security vans and cops, which was kinda interesting. We also got to talk to a few of his spies and security guards from Washington which was awesomeeeee!
Oh, and for the first time ever, I took a bus in Iowa!!!!!!!! I miss public transport so much, it is so much easier to get around! I’ve never ever loved busses that much.
PROM 2012 Saturday, 14th of April 2012
I had been so excited for this day to come for so long, and I can honestly say that it was one of the best experiences I’ve had in the US! It was a stressful day but at least I got the chance to sleep in, even though I couldn’t because I was too excited…
I went to my hair appointment at noon and went to a friend’s house after that where her sister was gonna do my makeup. Then I put on my dress and went to the place where my group was gonna take pictures. When we were done, we went to the Middle School for Promenade, which is where couples are being presented as they walk down the floor, and everyone takes pictures. That was a pretty scary moment, because I was very scared that I was gonna fall in my big poofy dress, so I held on tight to Cory’s arm!
When Promenade was over we got on a bus and we drove to the Mariott Hotel in Iowa City. It was so beautiful there; a large hall with round tables, buffets, and a big dance floor. Then we ate and danced, and danced, and danced! It was so much fun!
So around midnight when we headed back to town, only half of prom was over - now it was time for After Prom where we once again met at the Middle School where teachers and parents had decorated the entire place with plenty of activities, a red carpet, and candles, etc. There was sumo wrestling, a giant bouncy house, games, beer goggles, a photo booth, prizes, loud music and everything else. The coolest part was the hypnotists which I experienced at camp too.
After Prom was over at 4 in the morning and after that I went to a friend’s house and slept there. It was an awesome night, and we were all so tired that we pretty much just crashed when we got inside her house!
Goodies from Denmark! Friday the 13th of April 2012
Yaaaaaaayyyyyyy!!!! This totally made my night! Thank you mom, dad, sis, I love you!
Happy Easter!
I spent my Easter at my “host-grandpa’s” farm where we were for Thanksgiving and Christmas too. Me, Renee and Kenzie went out there to decorate eggs a few days before, which was a lot of fun - as you can see I made sure two of them got a Danish touch! On the day of Easter we went to church, and after that we ate plenty of food and hung out with family members. The kids also had an egg hunt, which I thought was awesome, and I’m gonna make my own family do it next year!
Happy Easter everyone! God Påske!
Tonight’s Choir Concert! March 5th 2012
So this semester I decided to take a choir class, just for the heck of it, and it has actually been a lot of fun so far! Tonight I had my first concert which was ‘spiritual’ and it was a pretty cool experience. I’m loving our robes which makes me feel like I’m in a Harry Potter movie…
I’m sorry that I forgot to tell you guys about my new schedule for the semester! I am definitely aware that I should have a blast in America, and that I shouldn’t be too challenged or too busy with school work, so this is what me and my councilor came up with (am I lucky or what!! haha) -

American History

B-Days

Tigerettes Spring Show 2012 “Glitz & Glam” Friday the 27th of January
Our dance season finale was a big show with all the dances we had learnt with the theme, Glitz & Glam. Tons of people showed up; it seemed like it was pretty much the entire town! It was a very nerve racking day and I was very nervous, but mostly excited! I performed in Hip Hop, Bag, Moms, Dads, and Coed - other than those routines the team performed Lyrical, Hoops, Pom, and Kick.
For the Moms we had a light routine, which was one of my favorites. All the lights in the gym was turned off and we were dancing with two small glow sticks and the moms had a glowing heart on a black cardboard. As you can see in the picture above, the big glowing heart that we all put together was our ending!
For Dads we had a construction inspired routine which is why some of us are wearing neon yellow construction vests in one of the pictures. The coed routine was where each dancer had asked a guy from the school to be their partner and it was a Summer/vacation theme!
The Spring Show was a lot of fun and a great way to end the season. I wanna come back and watch the next year’s dancers!
Oahu, Hawaii! January 17th 2012
Finally! After all the snow and coldness in Iowa, it was finally time to travel to beautiful, beautiful Hawaii! I left with all the Tipton foreign exchange students (except for Alina) to the airport in Cedar Rapids, and picked up other foreigners plus my IEC, Becky, and came back on the 24th.
It was such an awesome trip and I met new foreign exchange students that I will never ever forget! We had so much fun and experienced new stuff every day. I got a lot of shopping and tanning done, which of course was the most important. The beaches were beautiful and with above 80 degrees F every day, there was absolutely nothing to complain about!
Dancing for the first time! Friday the 6th of January
My dance team always performs during half time of the boys’ basketball home games. This night was the first time I got to do it as well! Not just one, but two dances!!
First, we did a so-called ‘bag dance’ which is really funny because we dance inside a bag… They’re like human pillow cases. I helped choreograph it with four other girls and it was a really fun time. It’s kinda scary though, because it is really difficult to see through the bag!
After that we did a chair dance. Its theme was a very famous old musical called Annie, which is about a pretty little girl turning into an orphan. As you can see in the pictures, we’re dressed like the orphan part of her. It was fun until we were about half way through… Then our music stopped, and we just kinda sat on our chairs for a minute, not knowing what to do. Then we somehow decided that we’d start singing instead! So for pretty much the last half part of our dance we were singing the song! We had a really nice audience who helped us out a little bit, but most of them actually thought we did it on purpose. So that was kind of a different experience, but it was just so much fun! I’m excited for our next performance which will be hip hop!
By the way - If you’re interested in seeing our bag & chair performances, they are on Facebook!
